Malba celebrates 17 years with a new route for its brilliant collection

Malba presented a new script for its permanent collection, “Latin American Art 1900-1970”, gathering 230 works of numerous artists such as Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Lucio Fontana, Antonio Berni, Xul Solar, David Alfaro Siqueiros and Emilio Pettoruti, and will remain on display until 2020.

The sample, which coincides with the celebrations for the anniversary of the museum, It proposes a chronological journey through the different artistic experiences in the region since the beginning of modernity, early twentieth century, until the emergence of conceptual and political art in the years 70.

Among the new, the presence of stands “Dance in Tehuantepec” (1928) Diego Rivera, considered the most important work of the Mexican teacher in a private collection, a set of paintings of Xul Solar and presentation for the first time in our country “flying forms”, a sculpture of Alicia Penalba recently donated to the institution.

After several years, re-key display parts as “Women with fruits” de Emiliano Di Cavalcanti, the immense painting “widower” Fernando Botero and works of the artists of the New Figuration, Ernesto Deira, Luis Felipe Noé, Jorge De la Vega and Romulo Maccio.

Antonio Berni Rosario has a strong presence, through the wall “Market gang”, as well as works from other periods of production as “Susana and old”, “The open door”, “Manifestation”, “The woman in the red sweater” Y “Chelsea Hotel”.

The selection was conducted by Victoria Giraudo, Chief Curator of the museum and deployed in 900 square meters on the first floor of the building located on Avenida Figueroa Alcorta 3415. It can be visited from Thursday to Monday 12 a 20 and Wednesday 12 a 21 (Tuesday closed).
